Enter the email address linked to your account and a reset link would be sent to it. A real reset link is single-use and time-limited, and is generated on the server — none of that is possible on a static site, so no email is sent from this page.
Why there is a real limitation here: passwords must be hashed and verified on a server. Storing a password in the browser — in localStorage, sessionStorage or a cookie — would be insecure and is never done on this site. When accounts are added, this form will post to a server over HTTPS and the site will also need email verification, rate limiting and a proper account recovery flow.
